Hi Anil,
once more to the first problem.. please try this /etc/pam.d/sshd
#%PAM-1.0 auth required pam_tally.so onerr=fail no_magic_root auth required pam_unix2.so # set_secrpc auth required pam_nologin.so auth required pam_env.so #auth required pam_listfile.so item=user sense=deny file=/etc/sshd.deny onerr=succeed account required pam_tally.so deny=2 no_magic_root reset account required pam_unix2.so account required pam_nologin.so password required pam_pwcheck.so password required pam_unix2.so use_first_pass use_authtok session required pam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel umask=0022 session required pam_unix2.so none # trace or debug session required pam_limits.so
please tell me how it works.
Now to the pam_stack.so. I'm not familar with this module and it does not exist in SuSE distributions. I think it is just a sum up of all granular modules.. and that's the point I would direct you to the pam_unix2 and pam_pwcheck things, which also have a config file /etc/security/pam_unix2.conf and pam_pwcheck.conf ( also, see man pam_unix2 / pam_pwcheck ).
kind regards,
Markus
oops.. sorry.. my reply went off the list.. and directly to you.. (bloody gmail..). additional, you could have a look into the SLES9 admin-guide chapter 20 (pam) and especially 20.2. The PAM Configuration of sshd Markus
