At the risk of underestimating your knowledge … Have you looked at File – Preferences – Input Devices – Configure Extended Input Devices? This allows you to enable/disable the pen/tablet/eraser and lets gimp treat each one differently (see the input devices dialogue). For example, you can set the pen to be a brush and the eraser to be an eraser; so no need to change tools. This works for me with an old graphire serial and should work newer graphires. Tkere were some wacom updates recently. My tablet still doesn't work on 11.0 either kde3 or kde4 It only works on a yast configured 10.3 with kde 3. Did you have any more luck?
