Kinkatta 1.0.1 released
Just an FYI. Ben Meyer just posted Kinkatta 1.0.1 which fixes the login problem. You can go to kinkatta.sourceforge.net and download it from CVS..it works just fine once compiled. Follow the instructions on the page. It's simple to get compiled and working. By an odd coincidence, I decided to try Kinkatta for the first time this afternoon. After discovering that Ait couldn't log in, I thought maybe AOL had blocked it (it's happened with IM services in the past) and thought I"d get and compile the most recent, which I did indeed do. However, as of 4:00 CST or so, inspite of the fact that I see there's a new plugin framework, proving that there's been work done on the client, it still couldn't log on. Did he fix it in the last couple of hours, and is it working for anyone? At 05:14 PM 1/16/2002 -0800, you wrote:

does Kinkatta or any 3rd party AIM client support loading your buddy list from the AOL servers? i use AIM on several computers so that's the only thing holding me back from dumping the AOL client. thanks.

Did he fix it in the last couple of hours, and is it working for anyone? Yes, he uploaded it to CVS about an hour ago..I emailed the list as soon as it connected. So give or take a bit..I emailed the list about 15 minutes after this update hit CVS. Yes..it works for me. I'm on AIM with it right now..actually I was just taking to Ben Meyer about 10 minutes ago. If you want to put it from CVS then do this. cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.kinkatta.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/kinkatta co kinkatta Then once it's made it's directory and all the code is downloaded..execute this. make -f Makefile.cvs Then just compile as normal. You have to remove libkinkatta* from /opt/kde2/lib before you compile or it will screw up. I don't know the reason for this. I just know he told me to remove the libs before I did a make && make install :) Cheers! -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
