ATI rarely supports the cherry on top of the development line. For vmware: wget ftp://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-jengelh/kernel/vmnet-update103.jen0_2.6.17.tar.bz2 -O- | bzip2 -cd >/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/vmnet.tar Jan Engelhardt --

I, too, installed but had to return to 2.6.16.21-0.13-smp as the nvidia binary video driver install faulted, said the source files were in an *unknown* location ??? -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2

I installed the kernel sources and was able to compile my kernel, the Nvidia driver from Nvidia and the vmware modules. I reported problems with my mouse which were solved by connecting it on a USB port. Everything was working, except video devices, TV card and Webcam, the V4L support was deeply modified !! so that I came back too, to the 2.6.16.21 kernel. Michel.

Oh, and ftp://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-jengelh/kernel/nv_kernel-1.0.8756-jen2.tar.bz2 some people just can't code in a clean way so I had to fix it the hard way. Jan Engelhardt --

-------------- If you've installed the kernel and not rebooted yet, then yes you need to reboot in order for it to find the new kernel. regards, Lee -- -- KMail v1.9.4 -- KDE v3.5 -- SuSE Linux v10.1 -- Registered Linux User #225206 "If a man speaks in a forest where no woman can hear, ...is he still wrong?"
