Get ov511-2.28.tar.bz2 and install it your ov518 based camera will work then .. down load it unpack it do make && make install Reboot the machine (it needs to chage the ov511 module for the out of the ov511-2.28 package once back up and running do depmod ovcamchip and you should be in business .. do lsmod |grep -i ovcamchip if oyu do not see the ovcamchip.ko module loaded you have not finished the install you need to do "depmod ovcamchip" and try again .. I have this in a script that firews off when i start kde as it does not want to automatically load BTW i have found that the so called beta driver is FAR superior to the so called stable one that does not support a lot of the ov518 based cameras correctly that is why i am using the ov511-2.28 driver it IS STABLE it has no problems that i have found on suse 9.0 9.1 9.2 Slackware 10.0 also make sure you have the complete kernel sources not just the binary bits that suse likes to install all the source code it needs access to it . Well, finally is working, i have to use the following options package ov51x-1.65-1.10-mark i first have to remove the ov51x moduke rmmod ov518_decomp rmmod ov51x rmmod ov511 then insert the ov511 insmod ov511 compress=1 force_palette=15 ov518_color=1 backlight=1 insmod ov518_decomp and in xawtv use the oprion -nogl Now i want this modules to be inserted on boot, i have added the options in /etc/modules.conf.local gandalf:/home/clmates/Mail # cat /etc/modules.conf.local # # please add local extensions to this file # options ov511 compress=1 force_palette=15 backlight=1 ov518_color=1 options ov518_decomp but ov51x is always inserted and ov511 seems to not use the options, what is the sintax to force a module insert during boot (or to remove one) Greetings -- Un Saludo.
