suse rpms vs. other rpms
I am new to suse. Is there any significant difference between rpms built specifically for suse and those built for others, e.g. redhat?

Yes, but in the majority of cases RPMs are useable on various systems, for exemple a Mandrake RPM could be installed on RH and SuSE and well as Mandrake.
