Every damned version of kmail for the last 3 or 4 versions of SuSE puts in a header of SuSE, which of course is not yours, and makes it impossible to contact the list. Get after Lenz or somebody and make them fix it. Why do you think I use Windows to talk to the list? --doug

I've found that some people get jittery w/ any software they use under Linux just because it's running on Linux...no matter how point and clicky it is. It's made to work and feel the same. I've configured 30-40 different email clients ..textbased and GUI under 7-8 different OS's..it's all the same. It just takes reading the documentation whether it be a Help menu or a textfile. If people think that computers and software should be as dumbed down as to cater to the "blinking VCR at 12:00" people. What ? I use kmail with Süse Linux 7.2 (and before this 7.1 and 7.0 - with older Süse versions I was only using Netscape Messenger...) and I never had any problem with this list, any other list... I tried kmail with other Linux distros and all worked well too... I really do not understand the problem you encounter. the kmail configuration is easy, just take the time (5 minutes...) to do it... I think the problem here is that the original poster joined the list from one ID (user1@isp1.com) but he wants to send mail to the list from another ID (user2@isp2.com) Not possible because of the safeguards the list has against allowing non-members to post to the list. hello Francis, probably you made your suse mailing list address default...I did not, and when I try to send a message to the list the "from" and "reply to" fields are ok, but kmail (I think) is playng games with me and sets the "return path" to my primary address, which the suse server won't like because it's not subscribed... dragos PS the account is configured ok, i can get the messages from the list, I even can send messages to the list, only that they get refused ;( Francis wrote:

it's funny that I have to explain this over and over... about what you sugest it may be the problem, it isn't. I have it like this: 1)I have a primary account lets say dragos@my-work.ro (yeah, I'm in Romania) which works 2) made new account suse@my-work.ro in kmail (also made it on the server, which I graciously run) 3)set up folder and stuff to receive mail separately for the mailing list, etc... 4) sent a mail to the list (selected the corresponding id from kmail for suse list); it came back saying I'm not subscribed: the "from" and "reply to" were ok, but kmail made "return path" my primary address (dragos@mywork.ro) and I was refused (rightfully) by the mailing list server Now I'm sure that if I use kmail only for my mailing list addres it would work, but I don't. dragos Bruce Marshall wrote:
