I have installed SDL v1.2.3 (with no errors during configure, make, make install), and now I am trying to install the SDL Mixer component. Configure fails at this point..... ----------------- checking for sdl-config... /usr/local/bin/sdl-config checking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no ----------------- I have verified that sdl-config is in the path, and actually at /usr/local/bin, and everything is as expected. Configure seems to be able to find it, but when it version checks, it fails. If I do a sdl-config --version, it responds with version 1.2.3. So.. it would seem that I have a version >= 1.2.0 Any suggestions or ideas what I can do to convince it I have version 1.2.3 ? C.

Check config.log to see what it actually does to verify the version. Some configure scripts have bugs in them regards Anders

Hmmm in config.log (after much sifting through the contents) I fond a line in there that pointed to /usr/local/include/SDL and complained about permission denied. I chmod'ed SDL, and that fixed it. Thanks for the pointer - as obvious as it was (I should hve thought to look in config.log).... sigh... I'll master this compiling thing if it kills me ;-) C.
