sftp works in konqueror, but... From home (ISDN) I can download from work but downloading fails for anything over about 60Kb. Command line sftp has no problems. Both machines are using SuSE 8.0. Any suggestions to make life more convenient? -- JDL

Here I can download fine any size, but upload doesn't work... I noticed that konqueror breaks the connecttion once when I log on to the wireless walk-up authenticator. A reload works here... But for sftp I haven't found a cure yet. Also 8.0 box setup running here.
But the sftp prob exists also with dial up. So its not the wireless part...
Any suggestions to make life more convenient? I'm looking into other ftp programs... But that's a loss in convenience already...

If I can make a recommendation: yafc (http://yafc.sf.net). It's by far the best CLI FTP client I've come across. It's got a progress bar, upload/download speed, ETA timer, bookmarks, and, most importantly in this case, SFTP support. It's a fabulous little program: SuSE RPMs available (just follow the links from the homepage).

So far so good... ftp works great and comfortably!! But when I try to connect to my sftp server at the university with "open -s username@servername" (a valid way according to "open --help" I get an error stating that the path to the secure server was missing... What did I do wrong?
Thanks HG PS: I upgraded to KDE3.1 today and my konqueror bug with sftp is gone... ;-) Transfer is slow, but complete, anyway...

I don't know... Try another syntax: $ yafc sftp://username@servername

Well, at least that works...

I definitely had the either the same exact problem you did or something very similar. What fixed the problem for me: upgrading to KDE 3.1. Konqueror on KDE 3.0.x had many problems. I recommend upgrading to KDE 3.1, not just for Konqueror, but for the whole package. Now that official SuSE RPMs of KDE 3.1 for SuSE Linux 8.0 are out, you really have no excuse.
