[opensuse] Madwifi
I am using the aetheros chipsset, i.e., using the madwifi. Under the latest update, the new kernel, 2.26.18 removes the madwifi rpm from the system. Does anyone know if they are going to update the madwifi repository or will I have to compile the source? -- Joseph Loo jloo@acm.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't speak for SGI in this forum. Did you see David Rankin's post "Re: [opensuse] BUG: kernel 2.6.22.16-0.1-default Breaks Atheros Wireless [work around]" At any rate, When the option to install the software was given, in my case, it mentioned that it was going to uninstall madwifi so I decided to wait. If you can't wait, it sounds like David's method should work. -- Sent from my wired giant hulking workstation Nate Pearlstein - npearl@sgi.com - Product Support Engineer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yeah this happened to me as well.... reinstalling madwifi threatens to delete the kernel and stuff like that... so I think I won't do that ;-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Is there any reason why my IpTables now do not work as a result of the upgrade to 2.6.22.16? I've even tried adding them again but still nothing! Any suggestions? Darragh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've even tried adding them again but still nothing!
Any suggestions?
Could you describe a bit better what exactly does not work? You might want to open a bugreport in our bugzilla, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform/openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

When I add a rule via iptables -A .............., it is not shown when I type iptables -L like it would be normally. I had a few rules saved and working very well before the kernel update however they've suddenly stopped. i cant give you specific commands at the moment as my remote connection has died so I don't have access to that box. -- Darragh Ó Héiligh OpenSuSE Technical Support Mentor Email + IM: doheiligh@novell.com Novell Communities Blog: http://www.novell.com/communities/blogs/doheiligh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The kernel update wanted to remove my nvidia driver, so I too am waiting a bit. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
The later kernels seem to cause kernel panics with madwifi and the kernel NFS server running. The situation is described here: http://madwifi.org/ticket/1698. I'm getting this panic on a Fedora MythTV box I have. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It also wanted to remove my ATI driver, my ndiswrapper kernel module, and my webcam driver. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unfortunately, I was one of the people who got deleted from the mailing list during the last few days. I did not get any of the notification. I should have mention it in my e-mail. I update with Zypper and it does not give any warning. -- Joseph Loo jloo@acm.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
