Since it seems not to be able to read from SuSE DVD installation kit any more, how can I install from the network ? Maybe my current installation, enriched/spoilt by the many on-line updates, is preventing CrossOver from working on his own as I have unistalled wine.
Please, refresh my mind about avoiding reformatting/covering the /home partition ... although I have bckups ... It's a lot of work to get R and JGR etc ... working again.
Should I re-enable he on-line updates from the repositories ? If the answer is "YES" than which repositories are SAFE ? I would restart from a clean installation anyway. God knows how many patches have been added in the meantime ...
Ok, Maura..it's obvious that you've got yourself twisted in circles.... I've been in this situation myself, and it's frustrating, because you end up doing lots of effort, but not getting good results. This adds to your frustration, because nothing else is getting done...and each time you re-do what you did before...the chances of skipping a step or forgetting to adjust a setting increase with each repitition. My advice...(as a systems admin for 12 years, and a *nix user for 24 years now).... 1. WRITE DOWN A PLAN on some paper, with full details of EXACTLY what you are going to do. Number this plan "#1" 2. Go do something else for a 1 to 3 hours. If you get an idea... write it on a Post-It note and attach it to the plan you 3. Look at your plan again... 3a If there were any notes from step #2...re-write the plan with your reminder notes put into the plan and go back to step 2. Number the revised plan "#2", "#3", etc. as appropriate. KEEP your previous plans. 3b If there were no notes from step #2 go do something for 1-2 hours again. 4. At the end of the day, go home and get some sleep. 5. In the morning, review the latest version of your plan one last time 6. Put your plan into action. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
