Arrgh! I've done it again (at least the 3rd time in the last few years!).
Installed 11.3 early this week and didn't notice any option to set the host name. So yast put in a random string (linux-zc8d). Digging through the manuals, I find a command "hostname" that will change the hostname in /etc/HOSTNAME. I do that, and everything looks nice -- if I open another bash session, it gives me my preferred name.
But now I find that the network name is still linux-zc8d. Further, when I try to fix it using yast, it says I can't because NetworkManager is in control. I can't find a way to fix it using NetworkManager or knetworkmanager. Finally, I tried rebooting to see if the other services would pick up the new hostname from /etc/HOSTNAME. Nope; /etc/HOSTNAME now contains linux-zc8d.
Sorry to screw this up again, but I need help again. How can I fix my hostname?
