I was previously running 8.0 and using a vanilla 2.4.20 kernel that I had patched for XFS support.
I want to compile the same vanilla kernel under 8.2 but it fails in ide-cd.c with a bunch of errors below. I'm thinking it is a problem with the newer compiler.
Anyone have a clue what options (if any) can be used to make the kernel compile?
I can't help you, but I'm curious why you are not using the standard SuSE 8.2 kernel. Like you, I am currently running 8.0, but I have a vanilla 2.4.19 kernel with XFS 1.2 patched in. I was thinking of upgrading to 8.2 for the sole purpose of getting an official SuSE distro with XFS 1.2. Unfortunately, I'm not positive 8.2 has XFS 1.2, but the Mantel kernel has had XFS 1.2-pre since Feb. 3 so I hope some version of XFS 1.2 made it into the 8.2 kernel. Greg -- Greg Freemyer
