Note: - Module aic7xxx.o exists in /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc - /etc/modules.conf has the same entries as the old one

hmmmm, seems we had the same problem...only I kept the old system.map and I disabled usb kernel support, but loadable has module. I also don't have any scsi adaptors, otherwise I don't see any problem at all...
