I have have the 'Error 21' problem in the rescue system. The solution for me was to go into rescue mode and manually edit the grub files to reflect the actual partition order, numbering and kernel locations. The repair system can do horrible things to the grub boot loader setup... trouble is I keep getting reminded of this the hard way :-)
Is there a "How-To" that describes how one goes about correcting errors in the boot loader? The list of partitions begins with hda8, which is the / directory.
