| | cc: | | Subject: [SLE] FTP install problem | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Hi all, I'm having a weird problem trying to install suse via ftp that's been annoying me for some time now. The CD boots fine and after entering the appropriate network settings the installer fetches the ramdisk image and I get a nice graphical interface. However, when it comes to verifying the package selections it just stops. Eventually I get an error message telling me to check my installation medium and I can't get any further. I've tried two different mirrors (ftp.mirror.ac.uk and ftp.mirrorservice.org) plus their http equivalents, two different versions (9.1 and 9.2) and two different machines and I always have the same problem. Is it something to do with my firewall settings or am I doing something fundamentally idiotic?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
James

Have you tried listening to your error message and possibly burn another cd to try the install?
Thanks for your reply Kevin, I tried it again to get the exact error message and guess what, it worked. It took ages though, the only thing I think I did differently was that I left it alone and came back later. Previously I had got bored and started messing about with the VTs to try and find some useful error reporting. Anyway, I don't really care, I'm just glad it worked. Sorry if I've wasted your time. Cheers, James.
