'make menuconfig'. 3) The symlink /usr/src/linux/include/linux -> /usr/include/linux is missing.
how would i do the 3rd option.... i do have the sources but dont wantr to rebuild the kernel
You don't need to recompile the kernel, just do the configuration. But first
check if /usr/src/linux/include/linux/autoconf.h does exist. If it does,
but /usr/include/linux does not exist, just issue a
ln -sfn /usr/src/linux/include/linux /usr/include/linux
BTW, which kernel sources do you have installed (plain kernel or SuSE
kernel)? If the latter and you're using SuSE Linux 7.0, just change to
/usr/src/linux and do 'make cloneconfig'. This will read the configuration
from /proc/config.gz and then configure the kernel accordingly.
Once again, you *only* need this configuration run, as it will create the
configuration headers.
