The kernel can be upgraded safely to the 6.4 version - they are not version-specific as such. Make sure you also update any supporting packages if needed, like PCMCIA and the ReiserFS tools. Note that OSS (free version from SuSE) for an earlier kernel will not work with 2.2.14.
I tried rebuilding the 2.2.14 kernel from the 6.4 Evaluation CD on my 6.3 machine. When I try to make the kernel (make dep && make clean && make bzImage), I get the following error message.
time.c: In function `do_gettimeofday': time.c:259: fixed or forbidden register 0 (ax) was spilled for class AREG. This may be due to a compiler bug or to impossible asm statements or clauses. cpp: output pipe has been closed
Any idea which additional packages I need to download to address this problem? Thanks, Harry -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
