I would also go for the Dell option. VERY linux friendly. for a review of all dell laptops and how they behave, there is a yahoo group, linux-on-dell-laptops and perodically there are long threads about it. If linux is the only OS you're gonna be having, you might also even give it a try and ask it without windows (you might save some hundred bucks). People have succeeded in doing this.
