* Paul Abrahams (abrahams@acm.org) [010622 09:03]: ->This is my second post on this subject since the first never ->got answered, but it was less specific. -> ->The version of Sax2 available on the XFree 4.1.0 download ->page at the SuSE website depends on having version 2 of ->hwinfo installed, but version 2 doesn't seem to be anywhere ->on the SuSE website. This is not a fake dependency; if you ->install the new Sax2 rpm with --nodeps and then attempt to ->run Sax2, it complains about a missing library component ->libhd.so.2 and quits. -> ->Note to SuSE folks: were you aware of this? -> ->Note to everyone else: has anyone managed to run the new ->Sax2? If so, how did you get past the hwinfo problem? -> ->Side comment: there's also a failed dependency on perl-Tk, ->but that one seems to be an error; it should be perl-tk ->instead. -> ->Paul :/home/ben # rpm -Uvh sax2-4.3-77.i386.rpm sax2 ################################################## zeus:/home/ben # I just installed this with no errors. I am curious why it would bitch at you about libhd.so.2 because I don't have it on my system at all. I have libhd.so.1 and my hwinfo version is hwinfo-1.81-0. This is truely strange behavior. Maybe someone who actually works at SuSE could shed some light on this. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin
