Hi. Thanks for the advice. Couldn't I install windows and then boot the existing linux system from the cd-rom and then install lilo back in the mbr? Thanks, Steve. On Sunday 22 July 2001 21:22, you wrote:
I had a dual-boot system (Windows 2000, Linux). I had to reinstall the Wnidowses. 9x would have owerwritten the MBR, but not Win2k. W2k can do 2 things: - owerwrite the MBR wit it's loader, but preserving the "Linux"( e.g. "unidentified system on c:") among the boot options - keep Lilo intact. That happened on my comp.

Hi Everyone.
I have windows on hda the first hard disk and I have 7.2 on hdc, a second hard disk. windows has a virus and I'll have to fdisk and reformat it. Lilo is in MBR. Will windows overwrite this when I reinstall? Is there any other danger of messing up Linux? I can access the lilo screen with no problem and get into 7.2 at the moment.
Thanks, Steve.
