Converting file system holding IMAP files to UTF-8

I have an imap server that is on a non-UTF-8 file system. I want to convert the file system to be UTF-8. I have Swedish characters in the names of some IMAP directories. If I convert the file names using the SUSE tool for this, how would this efect the imap data base? Or, is there also a tool lurking out there for this? -- Roger
