All this past week, I have been trying to get dovecot to work properly. For some reason, it now wants to use the users home directory, instead of ~/mail. Dovecot.conf has the line mail_location = mbox:/mail. I have also tried with mail_location = mbox:/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u:LAYOUT=fs. Despite this, the home directory continues to be used, with all the files and directories (including hidden) appearing in the email client. Why is this happening now? I have set up dovecot several times in the past and never had this happen. Is this someone's idea of a "feature"? How many more hours must I waste trying to get this to work properly???
After much head scratching, reading, advise from here, experimenting, frustration etc. I think my dovecot server is finally working and I still have some hair left!
Please be sure to leave the rest of the world unknowing of your solution!
Now to get fetchmail going and all is well! (Yeah, right!)
If you have problems with fetchmail, sarcasm will not help. Basic reading and rithmitic will help. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
