Hi,
In KDE it's very simple, just go to control center, Regional & Accessibility, Country/Region & Language, and you can customise number format, currency and everything
But how on earth do I do it in gnome? I've been looking all over the system and I just can't find it. Is this another usability thing, where users might get confused if they're allowed to use their own currency symbols?
Since no one's answered yet, I'll give it a shot.... Of course it's another useless usability thing. All those usability studies, apparently done on total idiots, that the gnome devs have used to yank functionality out of gnome convinced me to switch to KDE years ago. But to answer your question, gnome doesn't do this very well at all. You have to use GDM for your display manager, then select the language you want to use before logging in. Gnome then picks up your currency symbol, date/time format, fraction separator, etc. from the locale settings defined for that language. Alternatively, you can either manually adjust your locale, or possibly use this: http://www.yimports.com/~cpinto/darcsweb.cgi?r=gnome-regional-settings;a=sum... That might let you do what you want - never tried it myself, as I don't run gnome anymore. JA
Please help, if anyone knows gnome out there
