Hello, Marcel. I know someone else mentioned mii-tool to help with this, but I'm curious about the hub/switch you are connecting to. I have four machines here all with identical 3C905B NICs in them, two of which are running SuSE 7.3, and a pair of W2K machines. They all connect via an 8port 3COM 10/100 OfficeConnect Switch. The diagnostic lights on the front of the switch show all four 3C905Bs connecting at 100Mb Full Duplex, which is auto negotiated. I wonder if your hub/switch is not communicating properly with the NICs. The other two machines also have 3COM cards; a 3C595 100Mb Half Duplex only and a laptop with a 3C589 10Mb only. Again the diagnostic lights on the switch clearly show the speeds I would expect for these cards, so I am inclined to trust them. I suppose what I'm really asking is are you sure your hub/switch supports 100Mb Full Duplex ? If it does not, then forcing it won't help you very much. Bye for now, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: Marcel Broekman [mailto:marcelbr@zap.a2000.nl] Sent: 09 December 2001 06:23 To: Suse-Linux-E Subject: [SLE] force nic to 100Mb full duplex? Hi list, I tried to search for a solution for this problem but didn't find it yet. I'm using 3C905's and 3c980's in my network. Autonegotiation sets the nics to 100Mb half duplex, which doesn't "feel" much faster then my 10Mb nics I had before. I could really use more speed. Someone knows how to accomplish this ? mazzel, Marcel -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq and the archives at http://lists.suse.com
