I will try splash=0. OTOH, the faithful docs at http://en.opensuse.org/Linuxrc claim the allowed values are silent and verbose. Also, seems splash=silent is what YaST sets up in the grub menus (12.1 at least)... I am growing to distrust the information on that page. Is there a better source that is perhaps a bit more correct/up-to-date?
