Running 10.2 64 bit. Right after I installed it I setup pgp as root. Mistake, Every time I want to encrypt or decrypt a file I have to change to root. Real pain since most of those file are in my own /home directory.
How do I undo the root pgp and then set up a user (me) to do the encrypting and decrypting, or at least add myself as a user?
They are absolutely independent. A user can have one or more pgp keys, and root may have one or many pgp keys. It is not related one ot the other. Unless... unless you did "su" instead of "su -" and root's keys are stored in the user's keyring with root permissions. Do "ls -l .gnupg/" anc check. Also , "gpg --list-secret-keys", but don't send to the list, just check if root is there. If he is, export both priv and publick keys, and import them as root, then you may delete after checking if you want. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
