Hi,
I've found this interesting article on LinuxPlanet:

It says, in short, that antialiasing is compromised in SuSE 7.3 and can be much improved by turning the 'byte code interpreter' in freetype2 back on. Now I'm wondering:
Antialiasing seems to work pretty well on my system (Dell Inspiron 7500 with ATI Rage Mobility, SuSE 7.3 out-of-the-box install), fonts looking nice, although not quite as nice as in Windows,
Fonts should look pretty much the same as windows if you're set up properly. I did notice Yast Online Update carried an update to Freetype2 so perhaps that is enough. I didnt use it as I recompiled freetype2 by hand. until I upgraded freetype2, the fonts never looked right. dids
