Hi, This error happens because, by default, the serial drivers (for com1 and 2) are compiled into the kernel, so the module driver is not built. Char-Major-4 refers to com1 and you will find in /etc/modules.conf a reference to the module serial next to Char-Major-4. To fix this either compile the kernel again but specifying the serial drivers as modules, or comment out the serial part of the reference in /etc/modules.conf and replacing it with the word off.
