This is regretably what appears to be happening over time. Too many sites are supporting IE as a primary browser with the other's not supported 100%. Good sites use standards, but the developers of many sites are getting lazy and writing code for IEeeee (scream like your hair is on fire, because it is)and not doing a good job of testing for compatibility with other browsers.
rant mode on After I got rid of my Windoze based systems, I begin to regret the move; specially since I am currently looking for work here in Australia. To apply for a government job here, one must download a 'job information package'. As I am using Linux now (Suse V7.3), there is not much joy in doing this. Because of the fancy web pages, Netscape just crashes out, Konqueror goes in to a tight loop because of sloppy javascripts and plugins, Lynx doens't work because it can't do javascript neither does the old Mosaic. I haven't tried opera yet. When one deals with with private companies, one has a choice to change to an alternative company, but when the government forces jobseekers to access their web pages and designs their web pages in such a way that these can only be viewed wit IE, it becomes discriminatory. Try their glorious site at http://www.joblist.com.au. rant mode off I feel better now. I called them several times and complained about this. I leave it to your imagination how far I got with the bureaucrates. Should anybody find out how to access the above web site successfully, I would appreciate your hints. Peter Sutter
