RE: how does 'lock the desktop' button work

I've noticed that kdesktop_lock process use to die quite offen on my laptop which causes that desktop doesn't get locked after inactivite timer expires. I was thinking to use some script which would check whether the 'kdesktop_lock' exist and kill it when I click on the button 'lock the desktop' but I can't find out what is being executed after I click on it.
