Hi Jim, No NIS problem at all. I do not use NIS to run Samba and works ok. I assume that you upgraded to SuSE's Samba 2.0.7, and they did remove: /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/K19smbfs -> ../smbfs (disappeared) /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S21smbfs -> ../smbfs (disappeared) /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/K19smbfs -> ../smbfs (disappeared) /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S21smbfs -> ../smbfs (disappeared) from previous Samba 2.0.6/2.0.5a It will make no harm, just go your self and remove the above links and the complains will disappear. The functionality of the previous was only to umount _smbfs_ shares on reboot/poweroff. But wait, now i realize that you mention "rc3.d/s91smb", nothing to do with what i am writing. Let's do: linux:/ # find /sbin/init.d -name "*smb*" and it gives me, and nothing more than: /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/K19smbfs [ -> ../smbfs] /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S21smbfs [ -> ../smbfs] /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/K20smb [ -> ../smb] /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S20smb [ -> ../smb] /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/K19smbfs [ -> ../smbfs] /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S21smbfs [ -> ../smbfs] /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/K20smb [ -> ../smb] /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S20smb [ -> ../smb] /sbin/init.d/smb /sbin/init.d/smbfs (without the SuSE's Samba 2.0.7 upgrade) So what are you writing about?? Explain please!! =:`) -- HTH Best regards, Eduardo Carriles [-- Better a smile than a flame --] (Long time SuSE-Linux [preferred distro] user). SMB service rc3.d/s91smb is not starting correct at boot time.
Boot process gives me an error that it can't find init.d/rc3.d or something to the extent that it is not where should be.
This is an error message I have been getting all along but didn't really care about until now that I realized its importence well trying to get SMB running correctly.
Not that I know if this is importent in the sceme of getting SMB initialized, is that my network works fine and I can mount file systems from other locals.
Where should I look to fix this?
Thanks, Jim
