I am trying to install the printer Xerox Phaser 6128MFP. I'm using opensuse 12.2, 64 bits.
First I tried from the usb, but it was not detected in neither yast or lsusb.
Then I tried to install it from the internet cable. I downloaded the drivers from Xerox and connected the printer to my router. Yast could detect it and pointed to the correct driver.
Nevertheless for some reason I cannot print a test page (or any other thing). I click the button to print the test, ask for the 1 page test, but nothing happens.
According to http://www.openprinting.org/printers/manufacturer/Xerox the printer is not supported. But the ppd file is provided by the Xerox provided rpm. Always sure you have proper access to the cups printing system by adding your user to the lp group. This will require that you logout/login for the change to take effect. The errors pointed mainly to access to cups thru localhost:631. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
