Hi,
tried as you asked....... I am getting the error message "you appear to be running in run level 1 this may cause problems as devfs is not running" quit install now?
i chose no, and then got another error message " you appear to have an x server running, please exit x before installing"
how in the world can x be running in run level 1????
i tried switching 1-7 and the blue screen saying x is disabled is still there on 7, and i still cannot kill that screen.
hmmmmmmmm...
im stumped.

Hi, ' Normally, i have no problem with kernel updates and re installing my nvidia driver, but this time is quite the problem.
i have "wget" the latest nvidia driver, init 3, but when i go to sh install it, i keep getting an xserver is running. i checked tty1-8 and the only one that has anything resembling an xserver is 7. but you cannot kill it!!!! it is a blue screen, and says "the x server is now disabled" (which would mean to the average person, that there is no xserver running, correct?) restart gdm when it is configured correctly. then it has an below that, you cannot click ok, and you also cannot that doesnt work.
is there a way to init 3 all 7 at the same time from wherever you are logged in?
there is a cursor blinking further down the screen, but you cannot move it up to the ........any clues as to where i can go next?
thank you
steve
