I am unable to connect to a network printer in opensuse 10.2 The printer is an HP 4101 mfp. I have tried using Yast and Webmin using the printer's ip addresss/port but no joy. I can ping the printer's ip address. I get an error using the lpadmin command: #lpadmin -d 111.222.33.44 lpadmin: Unable to connect to server: Connection refused. (This is the same error I get using Yast)
The firewall on this machine is turned off. This machine is dual boot and I can use the printer on the Win XP side.
What can I do?
Install hplip and proceed from there. Alternatively, go to http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ and proceed from there. Anyway, in the list of supported devices on sourceforge, the LaserJet 4101mfp, (if this is what you have?), is marked "supported", but "network" is marked "no". So, maybe your printers problem is there.
