Hello SuSE folkz, In our eng.dept. we're looking to standardize on a single uniform Linux graphical environment. Could somebody please give me an advise what is more convenient to use with less system resources consumption? KDE is a very good environment but it uses a lot of memory and processor power. Windowmaker less resource consuming, has a nice interface, but we couldn't make its sound server working. CDE is severely outdated. What else we can take into consideration? We don't need a very generic graphical environment 'cause most of our engineers came from Winblows environment.
I like icewm, is uses few resources, looks a bit like windows so your engineers will understand it, and it can look very cool :) You can use xfm with it to add folders and icons to the desktop, or icedock if you liked windowmaker applets. Saludos Gustavo
