Did you try looking at the output of usbview?
Yes. It showed the usb hub but did not detect any of the USB devices attached to it. I persued this topic on the linux-usb users list and archives as well. Apparently the ETEQ (rebranded VIA) chipsets have spotty support, particulary in the early chipset revisions. An archive post leads me to believe that my revision 2 chipset might work if I got back to 2.4.1 as it is reported to work with VT82C586B revision 4. As support for these chips seems to ebb and flow with dot point kernel releases, I am thinking I am better off with a PCI USB card. Does anyone have a good PCI USB card to recommend? Cheers, Thom
