That's what you should already have. The command is, if I don't make a mistake: grub-install or grub-install.unsupported (I don't remember). Or perhaps it is grub itself - I'm fuzzy right now, last time I did it was a month ago :-) and inside: setup --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 --force-lba (hd0,1) (hd0,1) quit Doc: info grub. Node: setup (13.3.34 setup) And that's assuming the usb thing is the first device the bios sees.
