Greetings,
I am just curious, what codecs do I need to play back dvds ripped with mencoder, and where do I get them..
lavc is DivX compatible - I think xvid can be used to playback DivX content too, but I haven't tried it.
If you want to get a whole bunch of codecs all at once, google for the "Nimo Cocec Pack"
I assume there is something fishy with the way I rip the dvd, it does play fine in kaffiene. kaffiene uses xine-lib for playback.
If you drop to a command line and play the file with mplayer, you can see what codecs are identified by mplayer.

OK I have tried that codec pack and it doesn't work, the codec that mplayer uses is: Selected video codec: [ffodivx] vfm:ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG-4) I have downloaded and installed divx on the PC and yet it still can't find the required codec for windows. Have you any other suggestions.. TIA Chadley
