I'm attempting to install wordpress on opensuse 11.4 I can't get past the mysql config. I must be missing something simple as I can't seem to set the mysql root user to anything other than root What Am i missing ? Gary Ernst
Hi Gary, Here's my little edit -> copy/paste line by line into terminal 'near-scriptlet' for this specific task. Substitute your own values for 'rootpw', 'dbuser', 'dbname' and 'dbpw'. For the record: MySQL's 'root' user is a separate entity, entirely, from the host computer's 'root'. Also, mind the word wrap here as the single lines ending in ';' are just one line: mysqladmin -u root -prootpw create dbname mysql -u root prootpw dbname GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname TO 'dbuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'dbpw'; GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'dbuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'dbpw'; quit This creates the needed empty database. It also creates the needed database user and sets that user's password. hth & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
