Thanks for your replies Basil and Joe. I've tried the things that both suggested, without success. If I reconfigure the printer in Yast then it will work until the printer is switched off and on again.
So which is it, no success in getting it to print (i.e. initial config), or inability to print after it is turned off and on? That is 2 different problems. And you give no error info to give us any clues to even try to help. Assuming you have it working with hplip, what is the output of hp-check? Also, your problem sounds familiar to a bug in cups-autoconfig. See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334166 for more info, or maybe uninstall cups-autoconfig.
Thanks to you I now have my printer working normally again :-) The answer was in: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334166 Changing "yes" to "no" in the following config file resolved the problem: /etc/cups-autoconfig.conf DisablePrintersOnRemoval=no Easy when you know how ! I am extremely grateful to you. It appears the error has not yet been corrected - I re-installed all the cups files to see if that would work, but it may have taken that file off the DVD I've been told that there is another bug - see id=350956 Thanks again - Charles -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
