I am trying to access my linux harddrive through an external USB hardrive case. The drive is already formatted in reiserfs since it is from my laptop that has a fan problem is under repair. I need to get at some files so I mounted the harddrive in a pocket USB case and plugged that into my desktop USB 2.0 port. It does not work and gives the following error message.
***************************************************
Konqueror Error Window

"org.freedesktop.Hal")
***************************************************
I also have tried a USB memory stick and my camera in the USB2.0 port but they do not work there but they do work in the USB1.1 ports.
I think the problem is with the software recognizing the USB 2.0 card that I installed. The card is a Startech PCI225USB. The USB 1.1 ports are built into the motherboard.
All of the devices show up under the "My Computer" window and in Monitor - USB devices.
I also get the same message when I try to mount the device from the "My Computer" window.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong?
Thanks,
Bruce S.
