I use a similar trick to Carlos and a kernel update which takes us 2 to 3 hours is no big deal, when done in pieces.
Very interesting. Just downloaded one of the latest stable kernel and it is a first time that I got a complete download in a reasonable time. But being a kernel which is not offered in You I assume that Yast will not install it automatically. Think Kpackage will have to do. The script is absolutely fantastic.
