People, I have a ThinkPad iSeries 1161. It gives problems from all colors when installing since it is hang when making autodetect in the moment that USB rises. In fact the problem is since the APM the thinkpad ACPI it uses. Recompiling the kernel gets ready. I could install him slackware because precisely NOT autodetect and then of compiling the kernel, it was walking, the USB, the PCMCIA and until the KDE. But like it was so well everything, I deleted everything and I put him a SuSE in MANUAL mode so that it was not hang. The installation had an error in the half and the hard disk not gets up. They were all the well installed packages but the Lilo not it was made. Therefore what I want is to be able to boot, to mount the dev/hda3 on / that it is where everything put, recompile the kernel (that already have it loaded that), to make a mk_initrd, lilo and to exit walking!!! That has been my intensión, but I stop my self because I am not able to "boot" without be hang it. I made the following thing: 1) It starts up with CD -> Installation -> to Start installed system / dev/hda3 2) It starts up with CD -> MANUAL Installation -> to Start installed system / dev/hda3 3) It starts up with CD -> it RESCUES This option allows to boot but it mounts me the root / in / dev/root, per what I cannot mount the / dev/hda3 in / for recompile the kernel and to install the bzImage in him, to make lilo, etc. It always dies in the "Detecting hardware." I have not been able to pass any parameter so that not run the one autodetect. -- Saludos, Alberto mailto:linux@opc.com.uy Linux User #242064 UyLug Member #195
