OK! I try your method, but kpowersave is still crash! We need openSUSE develop team help us to find which program produce OSD and we will control that program to stop displaying. because I think the asus_acpi kernel module need not to remove.
I agree, but I think the problem is the wrong data reported by acpi. try start go runlevel 3, remove the modules, start X manually.

the data show the driver identified my laptop was ASUS M2E Module. if we know which program produced some information like OSD, we can stop that program !
I have an asus 4k, and have the same problem. If you remove asus_acpi the problem go away, the syslog is full of messages about error in acpi lcd (when I can turn on the laptop I will be more precise).
