I know that this problem is not unique to me because it is happening on all the systems that are running SuSE 8.2 both at home and at work. While it is not a life and death issue I find it annoying as I normally manage my system through the control centre. An example of the problem is, today I selected "create and edit users" from the control centre. I put in the administrator's password and then selected add. A window comes up but I am unable to input anything via the keyboard. The mouse responds but the keyboard will not change focus regardless of what I do (clicking with the mouse or using tab). Anything I do with the keyboard affects the control centre window in the background but not the window I need to input the data.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug that needs to be reported? Am I the only one who is bothered? Would be grateful for some input from the list.

I just tried this with no problems. Can you tell us if the machines are the same? Was the 8.2 distribution a copy or an original? Were all of the machines loaded up with exactly the same CDs/DVDs ? I had a strange problem with 8.1 and Gnome. The equals sign, "=" did not work. I had to copy/paste it from somewhere else or do a CTRL= to make it appear. Couldn't write code using vi or nedit. Under KDE eveything was OK. I posted on this list but probably everyone thought I was crazy. Couple of bad bits on the CDs? I'm grasping at straws.
