I'm trying to setup BIND 9.1.0 for caching and LAN private name resolution. Most things seem to work, except using dig to request an Authorative Zone Transfer. I get no results and the following message in syslog. There aren't any warning about bad syntax when I reload named.
client 127.0.0.1#2881: bad zone transfer request: non-authoritative zone (NOTAUTH)
Sounds like you aren't authoritative for zone, but without other info such as named.conf, nslookup run in debug mode, more syslog output, etc. it could just as easily be....fires up the BOFH excuse generator...electro-magnetic pulses from French above ground nuke testing.
