I was modifying my LVM configuration when I've noticed something unknown, after issuing the df command : shmfs 127188 0 127188 0% /dev/shm What is shmfs?
It's nothing to do with LVM. It's the shared memory psuedo filesystem and it's created and mounted automatically. It's used as a convenient mechanism for applications to share large amounts of data. Despite the way it looks in filesystem related tools like 'df', it doesn't take up any space on disk, and only occupies as much memory as is necessary. --
