DVD players under linux are in developpment, so don't think for the moment for a DVD-player under Gnome or KDE. The problems with DVD is due to the fact that the DVD industry doesn't want to give their specification for to Linux developpers because of the encryption DVD. There is a player under linux (The encryption system was cracked) but it is a software and it is very slow (15 fps with no sound on my computer) so it won't use your hardware. For your card, I'm not sure but I think that you can't play DVD with it for the moment. Wait and boot Windows for DVDs Francois On Tue, Apr 18, 2000 at 07:58:13AM -0400, b stephen harding wrote:

I've recently got a a DvD from a friend of mine and I was wondering if there was a DvD player I can use in either Gnome or KDE?
If you mean to watch a DVD video, then you're out of luck. Linux doesn't (legally) support DVD videos, and even the 'cracked' versions don't play perfectly.
Sorry, Chris
I think I got a bit confused here. I do have the Decoder Card with my Creative DvD Dxr2. What i was wondering about was an actual program/software to watch it in Gnome or KDE?
