Hello everyone Im having problems with apache2, has anyone seen this? I had apache2 installed, installed apache2-mod_php4 and all the php-xyz (extension modules). Now when I try rcapache2 start it fails, and I find this in /var/log/apache2/error_log:

I've seen a couple of similar things when googling, but no resolution - anyone seen/fixed this? Thanks, H
Hamish,
assuming that you have suse 9.1, then do an online update and then you should be able to manually start apache2 with /usr/sbin/rcapache2 start. I just went through this myself the other day after an upgrade from 9.0 -most frustrating. But did find a clue in the suse knowledgebase of all places. ;-)
cheers,
Bruce
PS I still have to work out how to get apache2 and mysql to start on boot, but that should be easy enough, and is another story.
Thanks Bruce I managed to get it *sortof* working with yast - just go to package groups, install simple webserver and it works, now i have errors with sessions: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: session_name() in /srv/www/htdocs/web-cyradm/session.php on line 8 As you can see, I am trying to install web-cyradm (its a php app to manage cyrus) - this worked first time on fedora 3, so I know there is no error in the php, I noticed that yast has an option to install php_session but this does not seem to have helped either! PS if you want apache2 to start on startup, just go `chkconfig apache2 on` I dont use mysql, but I bet you can do `chkconfig mysql on` for that! Thanks, H
